FAQs

Selling with Donington Auctions
How do I register to bid?

All bidders must register prior to the auction. You can register online via our website or in person at the auction venue.

A government-issued photo ID may be required to complete registration (pending on auction type).

A buyer’s premium is payable on top of the hammer price. This varies depending on the category of item:

  • Vehicles & Motorcycles – [9.5 %] + GST
  • Number Plates – [7.5 %] + GST
  • All Other Items – [19.5 %] + GST

(Exact rates are listed in the auction’s Terms & Conditions and catalogue. GST is only applicable to Australian residents and is calculated on the premium only – unless noted otherwise)

We strongly encourage buyers to inspect items during the advertised viewing times. Viewing details are provided in each auction catalogue and on our website.

All items are sold “as is, where is”. Donington’s provides condition reports on request, but these are a guide only and do not replace personal inspection.

Bids can be made in several ways:

  • In Person – at live in person auctions
  • Online – via our bidding platform (available for all auction types)
  • Absentee Bid – leave a maximum bid in advance
  • Telephone Bid – bid live over the phone with a Donington’s representative

If you win an item, you will receive an invoice shortly after the auction. Payment is required within the timeframe stated in the Terms & Conditions (usually within 5 business days).

Donington’s accepts the following payment methods:

  • Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)
  • Credit Card (1.45% surcharges may apply)
  • Cash (Victorian showrooms only, limits apply under Australian law)

Collection is by appointment during the specified pick-up times. Please liaise with Donington’s staff to arrange a suitable time.

For larger or delicate items, we can provide a list of recommended carriers. Transport and insurance after collection are the responsibility of the buyer.

Yes. We have our own in house packing team that can assist with small and medium packages. Buyers may arrange their own freight, or we can provide details of recommended logistics providers. Please note that shipping and handling costs are payable by the buyer.
